“Horn Head - 28 February 2009”

This outing to Horn Head was led by Mary and the weather was stunning! Spectacular views of the cliffs which tower 600ft/180m on the ocean side of the peninsula and glimpses of the the European Shag and the Razorbill made for an excellent day.
McSwyne's gun is a blow hole on the West side of the peninsula. Previously, during storms, water could be forced through it to a height of 200-300 feet, with a noise that could be heard ten miles away. Although still functional, it is not as spectacular any more but several distinct “bangs” were heard by the group.
Fantastic day, brilliant weather and scenery that only Donegal can offer - what more reason do you need for Hill walking!

(Shag and Razorbill are birds!)

For GPS users I have a GPX file for each walk and can provide if requested – you can use this for your own walks or to overlay as I have done. All the photos are resized to 640x480 for the web - I retain the originals.
