January


New Year's Day
Date: January 1st
Beginning: All Day
End: Midnight

Tortimer will be walking around the Town Hall, if you talk to him he will give you a fortune telling letter, if you don't like it then just talk to him again for another!

La-Di-Day
Date: 2nd Saturday in January
Beginning: 6AM
End: 6PM the next day

On this day, all of your town folk will be heading to the town hall to change the town tune. If you speak with them, they might let you hear their tune, if you like it you can choose that song as your town's tune, or talk to the other animals for something else.

Fishing Tournament
Date: 3rd Sunday in January
Beginning: 12PM
End: 6PM

The Fishing Tournament lets you participate in a contest in which only the biggest and longest fish can win. You can use any fish you had before for the contest, or catch a fresh one. To submit fish, take it to Tortimer for inspection. If you beat the current record, you will get a prize from the mayor. If you manage to hold out through the day and beat out all the competitors, you'll get the Fishing Trophy the next day in a letter. The winner's name will be posted on the Bulletin Board.

Yay Day
Date: 4th Sunday in January
Beginning: 6AM
End: 6AM the next day

On this day, when you talk to your neighbors, they will give you the opportunity to compliment them by letting you type on screen. Usually, one word compliments go best, although you can be as creative as you like. There are no prizes or gifts to be received on this day, the only reward is fiddling around with your neighbors feelings.

Flea Market

As much as you like shopping at Nook's, you know that there's always been that thing that your neighbour has, but nook doesn't. Well, today is your chance to go and get that item! Remember, it isn't for free and they may not sell you it. Basically, this is like a town-wide garage sale, and you can participate as well, villagers may enter your house and ask if they can buy some of your items. What the villager offers you in terms of Bells is Dependant on your relationship with him/her, so keep that in mind. TIP: Anything that you don't want to be nagged for, hide it in your closet!

Bright Nights
Date: 2nd Week in February
Beginning: 6AM Monday
End: Voting ends Saturday, winner announced on Sunday

The villagers in your town will decorate their houses with Christmas lights, and it's your duty to judge them. Talk to Tortimer and tell him which house you like, and then go to that villager to tell them the good news! They'll thank you for choosing them. Don't forget that you cannot decorate your own house as you are the judge!

Fishing Tournament
Date: 4th Sunday in February
Beginning: 12PM
End: 6PM

The Fishing Tournament lets you participate in a contest in which only the biggest and longest fish can win. You can use any fish you had before for the contest, or catch a fresh one. The Flower Fest is the perfect time to show how great of a gardener you are! Your goal is to plant as many rare flowers as possible around your house, as your house's flower arrangement will be judged at the end of the week by Tortimer. If you are the winner, the Flower Trophy will be sent to you by mail on the next day.

The winner's name will also be posted on the Bulletin Board.

The Fireworks Show

Even though the Fourth of July isn't celebrated in the game, you can still have the fun of fireworks during this show. Speak to Tortimer, who is, as always, near the Town Hall, to receive sparklers or/and Roman candles.

The Bug Off
Date: 3rd Sunday in August
Beginning: 12PM
End: 6PM

You and your neighbors are put against each other in this contest of bug catching, whoever catches the biggest bug wins! The rules are the same as in the Fishing Tournament, if you beat your own personal record for the day, you'll get a piece of furniture, and if you end up as the overall winner at the end of the day, you'll get the Bug Trophy on the next day via mail. Acorn Festival
Date: 2nd Week of October
Beginning: 6AM on Monday
End: Sunday

Throughout the week, you are asked, though not required, to collect acorns, which appear under non-fruit trees, and then give them to Cornimer, who is Tortimer in a mask, for a piece from the Mush Set, a furniture set with a mushroom theme, as the name implies. At the increments of 5, 10, 25, 40, 60, 80, 100, 120, 140, 170, 200 and 230, Cornimer will award you with a piece from that set. Make sure not to have any rotten acorns in your inventory when talking to him as he'll confiscate them and will refuse to accept any kind of accorns for the rest of that day!

Another year has passed, and, as usual, celebration must ensue. Make sure to count down the minutes until midnight using the countdown clock placed in front of the Town Hall. Make sure to grab some party poppers from Tortimer while you're at it!
